“ Well we are traveling and decided to grab a bite to eat! We always try to go local and we came upon Pioneer No 3! Parking lot was full of cars, so we thought let's give it a try! Glad we did! While waiting for our food the owner came by and made sure we were doing okay, he was super nice and shared with us how long he had owner the restaurant! The waitress was also very nice and made sure we understood the menu! We had the Enchiladas Special, which comes with coleslaw and Fries but my Husband opt to get the rice and beans with his! ( the beans were great and I snuck a bite or two). I had the waitress put my coleslaw on the side, and all in all, my plate was great! Reminds me of Dart Bowl Enchiladas in Austin which is closed now but I miss it so much! I didn't mind the coleslaw and Fries, and would get it again on a returning trip. Yes the place is older and dark but it is well loved by the locals, and a lot of them were there to eat, and knew the staff by name. I enjoyed my meal and think you would too! ”
“ I always order chips and salsa no matter what I eat. I usually order sausage with beans and potato salad the meal comes with rolls The waitress keeps your glass full. Great service. Old fashioned family dinning. ”
“ Always love going to historic local restaurants. This one has been there since 1949, decor very historic. Service A+++. Food, ok. Husband got chicken fried steak, which was a misnomer, as it was a hamburger patty. My chicken Monterrey was a bit tough, perhaps overdone? It was packed at lunch time, locals must love it. ”

“ I've been coming here as long as I've been alive and it never disappoints. Today I took my aunt for lunch and we ate like queens for less than $30. The service is super friendly, the drinks come out cold and fast, but don't load up on too many of their chips and salsa before your meal comes! My aunt had the enchilada lunch special with a side of fries and loved it. I ordered the chicken-fried steak with fries, green beans, and coleslaw. We took the coleslaw to go because it was just SO MUCH FOOD! When you come here, be prepared to see Wichita Falls royalty and local celebs (today we saw the race directors of the famed Hotter N'Hell Hundred bike race, which is definitely living up to its name this year!). Whatever you're in the mood for, Pioneer likely has it. The menu is a delicious mix of Tex Mex favorites (chile relleno, anyone?) and American standards (burgers, sausage sandwich, catfish, chicken fingers, and more). Be sure to come hungry and tip generously. ”
